ARTS AND CULTURE

St Joseph's College has first class Visual and Performing Arts facilities for the students of our College.

VISUAL ARTS
The John Howden Arts Centre has eleven dedicated Visual Arts classrooms, ranging from general art spaces, to specific areas for Visual Communication and Design, Photography Studios, a comprehensive darkroom, multiple storage spaces and both Apple Mac and PC Technology Labs.  At the Mercy Campus, a specialised Art Room provides a conducive learning environment.

PERFORMING ARTS
The Music Department has four specialised music classrooms, including a Recording Studio, Music Technology Lab, large spaces for group rehearsal as well as individual practice spaces.

Instrumental Music Programs are offered at the Enright and Mercy Campus.  A variety of instruments are taught in specialised facilities.

Drama students are encouraged to use our open plan areas in the John Howden Centre for rehearsal.  Student creativity is encouraged through the use of costume, props and lighting to develop their stagecraft skills. At the Mercy Campus students have access to the Mercy Theatre as well as the open plan classroom spaces.

The Dance Studio at the Mercy Theatre is second to none.  Students are spoilt with a large open dance studio fitted with tarquet, a ballet barre, full mirrored walls and a sound system.

The Mercy Theatre provides the fantastic space for students to showcase their talents.  The Performing Arts Domain regularly utilise this space to prepare and show their works to families and friends.
