THE HUB OF THE SCHOOL:
The Library is very much at the heart of the school from a range of perspectives: curriculum, technical and pastoral.  Our virtual online resources are available to students anytime and anywhere they have access to the Internet.  The Haenen Library is a  creative and intellectual hub, with a variety of spaces for different purposes and learning styles.  The Library provides quality, relevant information in many forms, and a safe working and study environment.

OPENING HOURS:
Term Time:         8.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Thursday
                           8.00am - 5.00pm Friday
Term Breaks:      8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday



Library Catalogue:  The Catalogue is available 24/7 via the AMLIB portal.  This enables students and staff to locate print and electronic resources at any time.  Please use the Library Catalogue link.


Library Homepage:  The library homepage offers information on new books, library staff book reviews as well as links to Research Guides, SJC Bay (2nd hand text book sales), Wheelers e-book platform and Device Instructions.  
FACILITIES:

Fiction Reading Room:
The library staff maintain a large collection of carefully selected fiction in a welcoming and comfortable reading room. The library promotes and encourages reading as a lifetime pursuit.

VCE Study Area:
A dedicated space is provided for senior students to encourage individual study in a quiet environment.
IT Support:
The Haenen Library is the first port-of-call for device issues and classroom support for students and staff of the College.
32 Library Research Computers: 
Computers integrated with the school network are provided for student use in addition to access via their own device.


PROGRAMS:

Year 7 Library Orientation Program:
The library staff conduct orientation programs at the beginning of the school year.  This is the student's first contact with the library that continues throughout their life at the College.  There are also information brochures available from the library desk which provide information on all areas of the library.  Orientation is also available to students who enrol in year levels other than Year 7.

Academic Skills Support Program:
The Academic Skills Support Program is offered to ALL students.  
Purpose:  To assist students in realising their potential through the provision of a range of student - centered skill-based programs, one-to-one  and small-group mentoring.  

Skill-based programs include:  General study skills; Time management; Assignment / Essay writing; Examination techniques; Note-taking; Research skills; How to read a book for all it's worth; and subject-based tutoring.

English Tutoring:
English staff offer separate tutoring  for Junior and Senior students in the library on Tuesday after school from 3.45pm – 4.30pm.
