Years 7 and 8
Food, People and Technology
Students set nutritional goals using food selection models. They will prepare and cook foods using correct techniques, tools and equipment. They are to analyse a range of influences on personal food intake: peer pressure, advertising, media etc.
Textiles
Student design and sew a decorative patch using a variety of hand stitches. Students complete a series of machine exercises then design and sew simple articles. Areas of study include: 1. Use of tools, equipment and machines 2. Design and decorative techniques 3.Fabric study.
Materials and Technology
The aims of this course are to:
1. Introduce students to the safe and correct use of hand tools for working a range of materials.
2. Teach students how to express their ideas on paper and to carry them through to a completed model.
3. Give the students a background in problem solving, designing and constructing projects from a design brief.
