A fortnight ago, the college held its first Debutante Ball in more than two years. Normally held for Year 11 students, we thought our Year 12 cohort rightly deserved a second chance to dance because they missed out last year. So, on the magical, wintry evening of Saturday July 23, our Class of 2022 dressed to impress, then came together to celebrate and dance the night away.

This past weekend, our Year 11 students took to the dance floor for their chance to shine. The night of Saturday July 30 felt a bit more wintry, but there was plenty of magic in the air. I was proud to see that everyone looked so dapper and lovely.

ABBA was the theme for both events, and Club Da Vinci positively shimmered. Fairy lights twinkled throughout, glittery tinsel streamed down from above, and at every table a spinning disco ball crowned a lighted centrepiece adorned with ostrich feathers. —It all looked quite fabulous!

On behalf of all those who enjoyed these nights, I would like to thank the college staff and student volunteers who organised the event, set up the venue, and chaperoned on the evening. Everyone had a wonderful time, thanks to your hard work.

During the pandemic, so many young people have understandably missed out on rites of passage like this. Although we continue to face challenges, we’re all happy to see our fantastic senior school students enjoying themselves and making the sort of memories that everyone should have of their time at the college.

God bless.
