Our Year 12 Meet the Teacher Evening on Tuesday 28 February gave students and their families the ideal opportunity to build on the partnership between parents and the college at a very important time for students.
Held at the Mercy Theatre, a group of key staff first presented the important points of VCE and the new VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM). Afterward, parents met with their child’s subject teachers to learn more about:
- Course Outlines
- Subject Expectations
- Assessment Criteria
- Important Dates
- School Assessed Coursework (SAC)
- Additional Assistance & Resources
- Ways parents can support their student as they study for VCE & VCE VM
Following the presentation and meetings, we invited everyone to stay for a light supper served in the Theatre foyer where teachers, our Careers Team, and the College Executive made themselves available to answer any lingering questions.
Events like this help our Year 12 students to achieve success by providing them with vital information early in Term 1. When they put this knowledge to use, they will be one step closer to building the future they envision.
St Joseph’s College proudly presents ‘Resilience’, the fifth pod in our Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) fleet.
A total of 51 students will participate in this year’s Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) program, so our newest pod will see lots of action on the track in the UniSA Australian Human Powered Vehicle Super Series.
Like our four other pods (Genesis, Virtuous, Mallee Missile, and Sunraysia Star), our racers will wrap this latest addition in a specially designed skin before the first meet on April 1 at McNamara Park in Mount Gambier. Resilience joins St Joseph’s College thanks to generous sponsorship from Mercy Education, Ltd.
Next week will be an exciting time at the college. At the year’s first Teacup Tuesday, we will offer families who have booked to attend a special college tour followed by morning tea. Parents of Year 8 students will not want to miss the Year 8 Grampians Camp Information Session, also on Tuesday. Finally, on Thursday 9 March, we will welcome our staff and students at our Opening Mass.
God bless.
