In a relatively quiet week, students have settled back into their studies after a long weekend. Even so, we have some great recent news to share. Plus, there is still time to register to attend our Mercy Campus Open Evening on Tuesday 16 June. Read on for more on that and our latest community updates.
Humanities Immersion Day
In their Humanities (History) classes this term, Year 8 students have studied the Middle Ages in Europe, from the feudal system and castles to Vikings, technology, and fashion.
On Thursday 4 June, they presented inquiry projects in small groups as part of a special Immersion Day. When you take a look at their creative presentations below, I think you will be as impressed and delighted as I was.
This was also a casual clothes day, with donations going towards the St Vinnies Winter Appeal.
Winter Appeal
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community, we will donate six bags of clothing to the St Vincent de Paul Society, along with several sleeping bags, blankets, toiletries and more.
This is a fantastic result in support of one of our country’s worthiest charities. I commend those Year 7 students who helped sort the donations last Friday 5 June for giving their time on a Home Study Day. Their commitment to service sets an excellent example for their classmates.
Whether you brought in clothing or put blankets under our ‘Appeal Tree’, we thank everyone who donated items this year. We hope our donations will help Vinnies spread the warmth of generosity this winter.
