Thank you for joining me here on the Principal’s Blog for one final Term 2 update. Over ten action-packed weeks, St Joseph’s College students have achieved some fantastic personal bests and proudly represented the College both on the sporting field and out in the community.
Should you wish to refresh your memory of all the engaging learning opportunities at St Joseph’s College this term, you can always visit the College News section of our website. There you will find all past blog posts and back-issues of Community, our newsletter. We published the latest issue just yesterday. Find it here.
Push-Up Challenge
On Thursday 18 June, the College participated in the Push-Up Challenge, a special event to encourage positive mental health and raise awareness of the 1 in 4 young Australians currently experiencing a mental health challenge.
More than 50 members of our community took on the challenge in support of Headspace Mildura. Two lucky students even won awesome prize packs when they put in the effort to push for better mental health.
Last year alone, over 160,000 young Australians turned to Headspace services across the country. St Joseph’s College is proud to support this essential support for young people in our community.
Year 12 Retreat
The Class of 2026 braved chilly conditions in Anglesea all week on their Retreat. We hope that they enjoyed themselves, shared in laughter, and formed closer bonds. They return to Mildura today, Friday 26 June, secure in the knowledge that they can turn to their teachers and to one another for support over the last two terms of their high school years.
Mid-Year Exams
I congratulate students in Years 9, 10 and 11 on completing their mid-year exams this week. Well done. I hope they all enjoy a relaxing fortnight of holidays ahead.
Formula 1 Study Tour
A crew of fifteen aspiring engineers and physicists will begin the long voyage to London on Sunday 28 June. Over the fortnight of holidays, they will watch the Silverstone Formula 1 British Grand Prix, enjoy discovering London, Stuttgart, and Munich, and visit factories for Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, and BMW. Look for updates on their adventures in STEM via the College’s Instagram account.
Victorian Youth Parliament
Three St Joseph’s College students – Iris Newton, Sophie Lloyd, and Ella Adolph – will be in the team that represents the Mildura District at this year’s Victoria Youth Parliament in Melbourne during the first week of the school holidays.
They (along with three more delegates from other Mildura schools) have received specialised training, attended camps, and researched important issues. The team then worked together to prepare a bill that they will debate in the Victorian Parliament over three days.
This is a very exciting opportunity, and I look forward to bringing you an update in Term 3. Find out more about the six young women who will represent our electorate at the 2026 Youth Parliament on this page in the Youth Engagement Services section of the Mildura Rural City Council website.
Senior Pathways – Save the Date
This year’s Senior Pathways Information Evening is on Wednesday 15 July, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Mercy Campus.
We specifically designed this event so that students in Years 9, 10, and 11 can explore all their options for 2027. However, even students in Years 7 and 8 would find useful information and answers to any questions they might have about subjects in Year 9 and above.
I strongly encourage current Year 10 students to attend presentations on VCE, VCE VM, and VPC. Year 9 students will discover all the exciting opportunities that await them next year at the 2027 Choices presentation.
Year 11 students can discuss their 2027 subject selections before attending the Snow Camp Meeting. All parents and guardians of Year 11 students who will participate in this year’s Snow Camp must attend this special meeting to discuss the Alpine Responsibility Code. This is a legal requirement of all school snow camps.
School Holidays
The Enright and Mercy Campus offices will close for the end of Term 2 on Friday 26 June at 3:30pm. During the school holidays, the Enright Campus Office will be open Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 3:30pm. (The Mercy Campus will be closed for the duration of the school holidays.)
Our offices will resume standard operating hours – weekdays from 8:00am to 4:30pm – from Monday 13 July.
I wish you and your family safe and restful school holidays.
Term 3
Term 3 will commence on Monday 13 July. Students will continue to wear their winter uniform, including blazer, to and from the College next term.
In the spirit of hope and faith,
Mr Greg Kluske
