Pathways to Explore
Young people achieve the greatest results at school when their parents encourage them and get involved in their education. With this in mind, I was delighted to see so many students and their families at our Senior Pathways Information Evening on Wednesday 15 July.
The evening featured year level presentations, subject displays, and plenty of opportunities to speak with Learning Area Facilitators, as well as VCE and VCE VM teachers. Thanks again to all our guests for their interest and enthusiasm. 2027 is already shaping up to be an exciting year.
Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
This past Wednesday, 22 July, VCE and VCE VM students (along with their parents) discussed goals, needs and opportunities at Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences. More than 60 students met with over 30 teachers across an impressive 217 appointments.
This is an outstanding result and reinforces the level of commitment shown at the Senior Pathways Information Evening. I hope that our VCE and VCE VM students feel better prepared and ready for the weeks ahead.
Closer to the Goal
If you read last week’s blog post, you may recall that the College was seeking donations to help the Grobler family pay for medical expenses incurred while their young daughter, Kara, received treatment for cystic fibrosis in Melbourne.
The GoFundMe campaign has a goal of $30,000. At the time of writing, less than $9000 is needed to meet that goal.
The Groblers are members of the St Joseph’s College community. If you have already donated, thank you.
Now I ask you to kindly spread the word. Please visit the College’s Instagram profile to share the donation video (reel). The link for donations is here and in the profile’s bio. Any support is appreciated.
Farewell
Fr Matthew Thomas, our parish priest, will leave Mildura at the end of July to take up a post in Warrnambool within the Star of the Sea Parish. On behalf of the entire St Joseph’s College community, I thank him for his guidance, support, and contribution to the Catholic identity of our College. We were fortunate to be able to wish him well at a recent farewell lunch.
Debutante Ball
Our second Debutante Ball for the year will take place this Saturday 25 July. I wish all our debutantes and their partners a marvellous evening full of memories they will cherish.
Enjoy these snapshots of moments from our first 2026 Debutante Ball on 18 July.
In the spirit of hope and faith,
Mr Greg Kluske
