The Power of Teamwork

As we near the midpoint of Term 3 and our 120 Year celebration, students have enjoyed opportunities to collaborate on projects, both in the classroom and on a race track.

Australian Business Week

This past week, Year 11 Commerce and Vocational Major students participated in Australian Business Week. Working in teams, they created a luxury resort concepts and built businesses to bring each one to life.

The week began with exciting team building activities on Monday. Following that, each group dedicated themselves to planning a unique concept that would distinguish them when they presented to the judges today, Friday 7 August. They formulated business plans, registered business names, prepared budgets, and much, much more.

As I write this, the students are still working on their display stalls. Stay tuned for this year’s winning business in next week’s post.

Tailem Bend 8 Hour Race

Our Human Powered Vehicle squad took to the track on 1 August in their second event of the year at Tailem Bend. This eight hour race tested each team’s stamina, skills and strategy.

When all 199 entrants had crossed the finish line, each team delivered impressive results. Congratulations to them all!

  • Resilience – First in Senior School Mixed category
  • Genesis – Second in Senior School Mixed category
  • Sunraysia Star – Third in Middle School Mixed category
  • Mallee Missile (Senior All-Boys Team) Sixth in the S3 Senior School category and an impressive 25th place out of all 199 bikes in competition!
  • Virtuous (Middle All-Boys Team) 18th in the S2 Middle School category and 113 out of 199 bikes in competition: a fantastic effort by our youngest racers.

Transporting all five teams to the event and keeping them fed is no small feat. I pass on my thanks to the parents and staff who volunteered their time to ensure our students had the support they needed to achieve these results.

The squad will next compete at the Murray Bridge 24 hour race in September before rounding out the year at the Energy Breakthrough in November.

Debutante Ball

The second group of debutantes and their partners took to the floor at Club Da Vinci on Saturday 25 July. As you see in the below photos, the enchanting evening will hold a special place in the memories of all who attended.

If you missed this year’s first Debutante Ball, you will find a recap of that in Week 2’s blog post.

In the spirit of hope and faith,

Mr Greg Kluske
