Advisory Council
The College Advisory Council provides advice and support to the Principal and the Staff of the College. Members of the College Council are valued for their wisdom and the contribution they make to the functioning of the College and work together to ensure that the Mercy Ethos underpins the life of the College.
COLLEGE ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP
It is with great pleasure that I inform you of the work that the College Advisory Council undertakes in collaboration with the College Leadership Team. Members of the Advisory Council are parents who bring their diverse business, governance and leadership skills to offer input and support to the college on matters about policy, finances and the future direction of the college. The College Advisory Council provides an opportunity for the parent community to have a genuine voice and to be well informed about school operations. This allows for rigorous conversations that support decisions in the best interests of the college.
Decisions made at Council meetings, guided by the Mercy Ethos, align with the college’s seven core values: Spirituality, Excellence, Compassion, Justice, Hospitality, Community and Service.
There are many ways to stay connected to the college and involved in your child’s learning, such as the school website, PAM, family events, Teacup Tuesday with the Principal, Skoolbag App, parent/teacher events, and the college’s open-door policy. I encourage you to take advantage of one of the many ways you can take an active role in your supporting your child’s education and enriching the broader school community. The members of the College Advisory Council encourage you to seek us out and discuss college-related matters so that all voices and perspectives can be represented in college decision making. Education is the passport to the future, as tomorrow belongs to those that prepare for it today. I have the greatest confidence that St Joseph’s College and its leadership team are helping all students with their passports to the future shaped by the core values of the college and the Mercy Ethos.
It is with great pride that I represent the parent body as a new member and Chair of the Advisory Council.
Regards,
Ben Nicholson – Chairperson of St Joseph’s College Advisory Council
